George’s Two Proposals from Two Sexes : A comparison

Do you guys remember that video about a gay reporter taking off his shirt and proposing to George in a press conference? While that scene was huge, apparently there was another less popular press conference drama with a woman asking George’s hand in marriage, putting on a veil, bringing in the minister all the way till ‘you may kiss the bride’!

Quite amusingly, George doesn’t seem to be as well spirited as he did in the gay proposal video. He almost looks like he’s bored or annoyed. I also take it that he does not like the woman. Maybe it was because the Sarah Larson bit with the broken leg prop was a bit of a stretch.

Any how, George seems to cringe from the prospect of getting a proposal more than from that of people thinking he is gay! He obviously liked the gay reporter’s spontaneity as opposed to the woman’s painstaking preparations. He even graced the guy with, “Its hard when you take one big chance and it doesn’t really work. It’s always embarrassing when you take one real swing for the fences and it just falls flat!” He was so good at making the guy feel better that if George was really gay, he would have actually given the reporter a shot! But all he did for the girl was to humor her by going along with the little play of marrying her.

Well, the girl didn’t really leave anything for imagination. Watching the two episodes again just made me realize how similar the situation is in real life! A girl/woman goes out and out with the details, telling herself she just wants to make her guy happy. In return all she expects is a sweet goodnight kiss or commitment or maybe even a proposal. And she really does deserve what she wants for all the work she puts in! And you know what, she may even get it. But the question will always remain: Did he do it just to humor me?

On the other hand, if you are a man, no matter how off-balance you were with the presumptions and expectations about a woman (just like the guy who thought George Clooney was actually gay), all you have to do to win her over is to do something spontaneous or even wacky! Stand under her balcony and coo “I can’t smile without you” or suddenly appear with a ring a year after you broke up because you didn’t want to marry her after seven years of dating or just make a botched up birthday cake instead of taking her out to the fancy dinner that she really deserves. That’s all you got to do and she’s right back where she was slaving away at making you happy (in her own way)!

Well, to tell the same old story, women need to be more spontaneous and men need to put in a little more work than what categorizes under ‘desperate measures’.

The Cat Shit Prank!

If your roommate has a cat, the litterbox probably bugs the hell out of you. Apparently, it was the same for George Clooney, when one of his roommates left the open litterbox in the bathroom for his cat to have a go at it, whenever it wants. So George pulled this prank on the dude which involved some scooping and crapping…I can’t go into the details but I will use a word: Eeeeeewwwwwwwwwww! Ok that’s not a word.

Last year, George was at the Emmys to receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his efforts to bring to light the brewing civil war in Sudan.And hello Mr.Spontaneous, he gets into bed with Modern Family! Is this typical of him or what?

George Clooney was featured in Men & Movies about a couple of years ago and I found the feature one of the best I’ve seen so far!Mainly because it doesn’t tell the same old story. For example, the story about George gifting his then girlfriend Kelly Preston (around ’89) with a potbellied pig called Max had been run to death in papers, television features and online along with the pictures of the couple posing with the piglet for People Magazine (will post them soon!).But the little story behind why George Clooney felt compelled to get a pig had never been mentioned! Me for one, was second guessing that it was probably some sort of fad at that time or that George had seen pigs in their farms in Kentucky and always wanted one or that his stupid bimbo of a girlfriend (yeah, Kelly Preston was once a bimbo. Once a bimbo always a bimbo) probably squealed at a pig one time saying “Awww…..pigs are sooo cuuuuuuuteee! I want one!” and made an awful lot of PDA chewing George’s ear in the public, etc. that he felt he’d remain romantically challenged if he didn’t buy her a bloody pig! Well, those were just a few of my guesses. But in this feature, they have a snippet of an interview where George explains why he got the pig! No, he didn’t walk into a pig store and get a pig! They had a little pig scene in one of his early TV shows Roseanne and George just felt the instant connection! And HE DID NOT BUY IT FOR THE BIMBO !! This just makes me so much happier! And he also says on the interview how Max once saved him from the earthquake! I miss Max Well there are loads of other interesting parts too. Watch it up!

Shailene Woodley plays George Clooney’s Daughter in “The Descendents”

Oh my god she is so annoying!!! I hope she won’t do her ‘daughteerrrr…’ ‘novembeeerrr….’ drawling accent in the movie! Shailene Woodley is playing one of George’s two daughters and she happens to be the one with a drug addiction.

Meanwhile Descendents seems to have an exciting plot! George’s (Matt King) wife is in an irreversible coma after a boating accident and he learns that she was having an affair with someone before the incident. Having had been the insensitive father/husband plus a land baron and a total ass, Matt hopes to become the good guy by trying to track down his wife’s lover! So he sets out on a road trip with his two daughters to find the guy, so that he’ll have a chance to say goodbye. Meanwhile there’s talk about Matt being schizophrenic! Can this plot get any more weirder?

I can’t wait to lay my hands on the book this movie is based on: The Descendents by Kaui Hart Hemmings. I always love to read the book before I see the movie and this time I’ll have George’s face right there when I’m having trouble imagining the character!The Descendents would probably be the first movie where George is a parent! I can’t think of any other movie except O Brother Where Art Thou…which doesn’t count because there’s not much parenting to do in the script! Can you think of any movie where George plays the adorable dad?

George Clooney speaks about the situation in Sudan during one of his trips to the country. He contracted Malaria during this trip and was quoted saying “Malaria was fun. Marriage, not so much’ on the Piers Morgan show. George was successful in throwing light on the situation in Sudan and influencing world powers to support the elections that were recently held in the country.

Marrying George Clooney

Awesome, I just found out I am not the only women obsessed with the idea of marrying George Clooney! Someone actually wrote a book about it. Ok, Clooney fans, don’t you go blame my news coverage skills now. I had no reason to know about this seemingly lovely book called Marrying George Clooney by Amy Ferris because a. I am not a feminist and b. I am not menopausal.

But, really I think Amy Ferris did a great job selecting George Clooney for her book because he is the safest bet among celebrities who would not emerge married by the time you finished writing the book. And despite what some people might be getting for spreading wedding rumors like this, they are definitely not getting a married George! *Touchwood*

But why? Why isn’t he married and why is he never getting married? Why did he go the lengths of proclaiming and betting even that he’s never getting married? Well, rhetorically, I could discuss the pros and cons of the institution of marriage itself I guess. But I don’t think it is applicable to George Clooney. He just stands for that decision you make when you got too many choices—choose none!

George’s relationship with Kelly Preston was widely talked about way back in the late eighties. He was the newest most expensive model/actor back then and Kelly was a bit more popular than him already. Thus started the string of high-profile, widely reported relationships George had been in.

About Kelly and George? Oh they lived together, they bought a pig, they PDA’d for People magazine and they broke up.

Too bad for Kelly, George got married by the end of the very year (‘89) to Talia Balsam. In Vegas! Maybe Vegas does that to you, getting you to swear off marriage because George did just that a mere three years later, even before the ER popularity bug bit him.

Believe me I tried for a better picture, but she was...they were...like that!

About his marriage to Talia Balsam, Clooney said,

“I was 28, and in Kentucky when you get to be that age, you’re supposed to get married, and you know exactly what the marriage should be like. I had this image of marriage. When ours didn’t exactly fit that image, I thought it didn’t work. I wasn’t very bright about it. We had to reconstruct our marriage a little bit, and I wasn’t willing to do that. I walked away. I could have been scared. Maybe I wasn’t ready to be married. It was my fault all the way down the line.”

Well, that was that. Take the blame, give up the money or whatever, but get out. Just get out! Because that is what you do when you are waking up to too many choices. You get out of the existing one

Anyhoo folks, dream all you want about marrying George Clooney, because by the end of that dream, he might have changed his shiny blonde arm-piece, but is definitely not going to sport a shiny band on the finger.

So George Clooney Endorses Nespresso, Doesn’t Mean He’s Insincere In Humanitarian Efforts

In case you’ve stumbled on to this post from an outside source, Here’s the context: a blogger at 66witches says why she thinks George Clooney’s humanitarian efforts are moot because he associates himself with Nestle–a crap corrupt corporation to the core (responsible for 1.5 mil infant deaths in Africa) while endorsing Nespresso–an environmentally degrading machine nobody in their right minds ever freaking wanted. I explained the whole thing about what the fuck is wrong with George Clooney endorsing Nespresso in the previous article.
Though an year too late, here’s my response for the article in 66witches:

Well, you can see me as clooneyfan here and I am not ashamed of being one even after reading your articles, many points of which I agree with.

In his defense George Clooney never claimed he was an environmentalist because he flies in private jets. He ‘publicly’ prefers convenience over all else.

But that is no excuse to prefer/endorse Nespresso’s machines. Surely anybody who had more than one cup of real coffee wouldn’t want such vacuum cleaned automated crap called coffee. I don’t. But since when have consumers world-wide started demanding products which they only absolutely need? Surely you’ve lived long enough to have heard people say they did not need computers!! And had the activism prevailed we would’ve been in a different world, wouldn’t you say? Definitely the Information Age, we so love right now would never have surfaced.

So if the generations to follow decide to prefer shiny aluminium (or hopefully some other Environmentally friendly packaging material) pods to coffee beans, could you hold it against them when you have given up on the sensibility of handwritten mails to the automated signatures of e-mails?

Pardon me, but this is how I would like to justify the existence of those wretched pods to myself, because at the end of the day, rant as much as I want, I would have control over my preferences alone and no one else’s.

(I would ask you here to think as a normal person who’s choices are based on ‘likes’ and ‘conveniences’ rather than an activist who’s choices are based on ‘what is right’)

So whether it is ‘necessary’ or not, George Clooney’s endorsement of the Nespresso machine is justified as far as the functionality of it is concerned.

So, those are my thoughts on 2 of your points:

1. The Environmental issue which I don’t have a stand on as long as George doesn’t proclaim himself to be an out and out Environmentalist.

2. The issue of whether we need the machine or not which I cannot summarize but you get the point.

Coming to Nestle’s widespread corruption, you are bang on. It’s nothing new, all these allegations on Nestle and I heartfully wish for the damn corporation to go down the drain. I have been an activist for Greenpeace’s campaign against Nestle “Ask Nestle to give rainforests a break” myself and have done a whole lot of reading regarding the same.

I also agree with you on the assumption that George Clooney knew all about Nestle’s wrongdoings having read Baby Milk Action’s press releases among other justifying reports. He was definitely in the wrong in associating himself with a company like Nestle and I really hope George Clooney would stop endorsing the company’s products soon.

As great (Oscar Winning) an actor George is, I can tell when he’s acting and when he’s not. In this video, for example, he is so not. You can see in every utterance, the earnestness to get the people in UN to hear. George is a smooth actor. When he’s acting he doesn’t stutter. SO PLEASE, HE IS NOT PRETENDING TO CARE

On the other hand, advocacy is the right of every concerned individual. And by individual I mean the simplest definitions of it which does not include multi-million-dollar-corporate-representations or a thirty-million-fanbase. I’ll come back here, but first consider this.

You might just be wrong that George Clooney ‘does not need the money’. It is estimated that 90% of his income originates from his endorsements. So, it would be a considerable dent in his earnings if he lost his biggest endorsement, wouldn’t it? You might not agree with me, but I’m sure his personal finance manager does and so would his investment partners and advisors.

Which is why I ask you to consider him as an individual alone and not what he represents or the finer (minuter) points of his income generation and its usage. It is a completely personal choice and it is utterly ridiculous and communist to discuss ‘how much he should earn’.

In a gist, about Nestle all I’m saying is, in addition to mouthing ‘Hollywood Whore’ I might also want to add ‘Business is Business’. Just to be fair.

So if such an individual who is moved by a cause dons the role of an advocate and dares to go against a lot of forces in voicing the troubles of an obscure nation of sufferers, I would totally support him despite what his lackings are.

At the end of the day, people in Darfur have been benefited, the situation in Chad had been enlightened and victims in Haiti have received relief! And what did George Clooney get from that except a felicitation here and there and a lot of flak because the way he earns his money is not 150% pure?

Someone who only ‘claims to care’ would not take off unassisted and unprotected to Chad with Pulitzer winner Nick Kristof. Someone who could be defined by the word ‘whore’ would not sacrifice the so-called personal gain for more than five years working for a losing cause, even while accepting he is losing it. Someone who ‘does not need the popularity’ and ‘is not running for president’ would not do what all George Clooney is doing unless he/she genuinely cares about a cause.

So please do not undermine his efforts where they directly matter just because he erred elsewhere along with some thirty-thousand-odd people also earning from the same place.

PS: No, I am not doing this to profess my undying love for George Clooney and I might or might not have done this for some other personality. But, I just wanted to throw some light on the positive aspects of his humanitarian efforts because a.I knew all about it and b. I am a bigger fan of reason than of George Clooney.

So I’d like to see if you can reason me out of this one

Just because he looks nice and suave doesn’t mean he’s slick or insincere.

Maybe you’d like him more if he’s not his usual absolutely-terrific self. Throwing a beard on and some sad eyes good enough?
